Supports For Businesses With Workforce Challenges

Helping to address the labour shortage in the region is a top priority for RTO7. On January 21, 2022, RTO7 in partnership with Bruce, Grey and Simcoe Counties, launched the first in a series of recruitment campaigns across social media channels. To take advantage of this series of campaigns be sure that your job posting is listed on your county’s Job Board.  Each County aggregates the job listings from several sources, please see the list below for some of the options available to you to place your job postings, sorted by county.

Recruiting adequate staff for the region’s tourism offerings is one challenge, training those new hires and existing staff to continue to offer top-notch customer service is another. RTO7 is happy to offer free online customer service training via the Typsy Platform. These bite-sized, mobile-friendly training modules allow staff to pick and choose subjects that will help them on the front line, as well as completing the trainings you choose to require as an employer. As we continue to focus on the recovery of the tourism industry, offering great customer service will help your business and BruceGreySimcoe stand apart and it will encourage staff retention.

Additionally, RTO7 has launched a video marketing campaign to help dispel myths about working in the tourism industry. The Consider a Career in Tourism campaign introduces viewers to tourism employees and business owners to give an overview of the variety of positions available and the unique career opportunities that tourism can offer.

RTO7 has also identified two key areas businesses are struggling with: website improvement and diversity and inclusion. The RTO7 Workforce Development Series includes two free upcoming webinars to help your staff learn and develop new skills.
