On August 14, we partnered with Spy Cider House & Distillery and Thornbury Laser Clinic to host our August After 6, and the best way to sum up the evening is WOW.
We had a record-breaking turnout of our amazing Chamber members, who showed up ready to socialize, enjoy some incredible food and cocktails, listen to great live music, and drink in the breathtaking views from the cider house. Spy provided a selection of their ciders and other offerings (you gotta try their Golden Eye), and owners Darcy Haggerman and Ian Smith opened up their beautiful property to us. A truly unbelievable spread of appetizers was provided by The Gate in Flesherton, who are offering a summer menu at Spy on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The Gate is also partnering with Spy to host an intimate Wednesday Night Dinner Series, and the next one is coming up on August 21. Find out more and get your tickets at www.spydistillery.com. Our toes were tapping to music from Ian Roberston, who stepped in at the last minute to save the day and are we ever glad he did! Keep an eye out for him at another Chamber event soon; once he busted out a Rheostatics tune we were instant fans. Topping it all off was an absolutely gorgeous evening weather-wise, which we know we can’t take any credit for — we’re just thankful the Chamber calamitous weather curse seems to have lifted.

The BMCC tried something a little different for our recent After 6, and we think it’s safe to say it was a HUGE success.
Co-hosted by the Clarksburg Village Association and the Marsh Street Centre, the evening was a celebration of the businesses and entrepreneurs who are such a big part of making Clarksburg wonderful. We kicked things off with some cocktails at the Marsh Street Centre’s back patio, accompanied by some delicious snacks from The Market on Marsh. Then guests explored the shops, galleries and service providers of Clarksburg, who graciously opened their doors to us for some night shopping, refreshments, tunes and a few very cool surprises. The evening wrapped up with some raffle draws, and lucky winners took home fantastic prizes donated by some of the participating businesses – thanks so much to reDiscovered on Marsh, Bayside Wellness on Grey 13, Skona Design, The Market on Marsh, The Clark Gallery/Two Crows, Riverside Press, and Kilby Gallery for your generosity.
