Free PSW Training Starting Soon

We are excited to be telling you about our full-time PSW Program with Georgian College and we’re looking for people to get started with!

Our program will start with 3 weeks of pre-employment training. We review employer expectations, provide orientation and job shadowing, and offer valuable courses such as Mental Health First Aid for Seniors. Clients will receive $1,000 upon successful completion of this pre-employment training.  Then, we will run full-time schooling through Georgian College, and this will be a combination of online classes and in-person labs at the Georgian College, Owen Sound Campus.  After schooling, clients will participate in two clinical placement opportunities, where they will receive $3,500 upon successful completion.

The YMCA will be providing the funding for the following aspects of the training:

• College application and credit exemptions (if applicable)
• Tuition, Compulsory Ancillary Fees, Lab Fees, Texts Books
• Gentle Persuasive Approach Training
• Standard First Aid with CPR (BLS) Training
• Student Scrubs
• Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector Screening
• TB Testing and Vaccinations (if needed/cost attached)
• Borrowed Laptop/MiFi hubs (if needed to complete training)
